Situation

Tweeter, a large regional chain of retail stores that sells home audio, video, entertainment and electronic products. To keep its rapidly growing employee base engaged and to reward them for a variety of performance criteria, Tweeter decided to consolidate three existing rewards programs and several new initiatives into a single platform that would be accessible to all employees.

Solution

Using a customized online solution, All Star produced a single incentive program that offered awards in more than 20 different performance categories. Each time an employee was recognized for a performance initiative, he or she received a personal letter of congratulations from the president of the company, along with an online award redemption code. Accessing the online awards catalog from the company's intranet site, employees were able to select their award from hundreds of products divided into specific award levels. The value of each award level was pre-selected by the client.

Results

Using this unified platform, Tweeter achieved all of the stated goals of the program: engaging and rewarding employees, offering desirable awards that would motivate performance, and creating an award web site that is easy to understand and navigate. The result was a dramatic reduction in workload for our customer's internal staff and a significant increase in stated satisfaction among participating employees. Tweeter also experienced a 14% reduction in turnover during the first three years that the program was in place.
