In the 1960s, while working for Standard Oil’s new plastics division, Ed Sr. had a vision of the future of the premium products industry. With his engineering and marketing experience, he recognized that this new “miracle material” offered unparalleled design options and incentive marketing potential. When Standard Oil relocated their Boston office to Chicago in 1970, Ed and his wife, Ann, chose to stay and fulfill his dream of starting a business. He leased and renovated an old trolley station as the first location for his premium rep company, All Star Premium Products. Dunkin' Donuts became one of Ed's first customers, using plastic jugs and coolers in consumer premium programs.
Over the years, the company has added services and employees, including Ed and Ann's three sons: Gary, Brian, and Ed Jr., who continue to lead the company, now housed in a 45,000 square-foot office, warehouse and fulfillment facility. Besides running All Star, Ed Sr. enjoys a good cigar, and spends his time traveling with his wife, golfing and enjoying his seven grandchildren.
Ed Sr. on Success
“I'm most proud of starting this business and having three sons who were willing to work with me, and who have expanded it and made it the success it has become.”
Ed Sr. on Recognition
“The best recognition I've ever received was a pencil sketch of our offices from an employee. It was signed by all of our employees, each one stating how much they enjoyed the experience of working with the Galonek family.”
