An All Star Mother's Mission: More than 125,000 minutes given to US Troops in Iraq.
Sturbridge, MA – All Star Incentive Marketing recently reached out to US troops stationed in Iraq. Troops were sent more than 2100 phone cards left over from a client’s incentive program. The 60-minute phone cards allowed soldiers to make calls from Iraq to the United States. Kathy Knapp, an All Star Program Manager, thought up and coordinated the massive effort. Knapp’s son, Sgt. Ryan Scanlon of Londonberry, NH, is part of the 167th Command Support Group based in Camp Speicher, Trikit, Iraq.
Scanlon’s unit is tasked with protecting high-ranking officers as they travel between camps. During a few missions, Scanlon was able to personally pass out some of the phone cards before dividing the remainder among several Staff Sergeants to disperse in Ballad, Mosul, Trikrit and Camp Anaconda. According to his mother Knapp, Scanlon said he felt like Santa Claus and was glad to help those with families back home.
Knapp commented, “The phone cards are much-needed luxury items to these soldiers.”
