ClientA Leading Waste Management Company ObjectiveOne of the largest solid waste management companies in the US needed to implement a nationwide safety incentive program for nearly 20,000 safety-sensitive employees to promote safe work practices by improving safe driving habits, reinforcing safety training, and enhancing the overall safety culture. ChallengeThis company is comprised of over 600 divisions each with internal management staff. Approximately half of the 600 divisions are unionized and as a result could not immediately take advantage of a safety incentive program. Other challenges, some of the safety-sensitive employees are English speaking while others are Spanish speaking, and not all program participants have web access. SolutionAll Star created and launched a bilingual online/off-line plateau level program titled The Dedicated to Safety (DTS) Rewards Program. This program enables participants to accumulate and combine safety vouchers earned throughout the life of the program enabling them to save the points they earn and redeem for higher-level awards. The customized award website, catalog, voucher and poster include the companies’ corporate colors, logos, and imagery. The program was designed to seamlessly handle award orders from both online and off-line participants. The rotating banner on the award web site is used to communicate and highlight division success throughout the program. The redemption vehicles for the program are printed safety vouchers in both 10 and 25 point denominations each with a unique award code. ResultsThe program successfully raised safety awareness and promoted safe work practices. In the first year the total claim count was reduced by 760 with the majority generated by divisions participating in the program. The divisions participating in the program have almost doubled the reduction in claims than non-participating divisions. Although the program supports both online and offline participation, over ninety percent of all the award orders placed have been placed online. |
